Job Summary

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for organizational purchasing duties, daily processing of purchasing activities related to inventory, office supplies, marketing and promotional materials, IT equipment, vendor services, employee apparel items, and other items as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assures the organization’s purchasing is completed through use of formal and controlled processes in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Assures that receiving, inventory, and shipping procedures reflect both sound financial practices
  • Work with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid
  • Prepares purchase orders, bid requests, and RFPs
  • Reviews proposals, RFPs, and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
  • Communicate with vendors used for WWP storage, fulfillment, and distribution of TCPs and other Packs and Mailers
  • Regularly reviews inventory levels to determine when stock is low, and works with Inventory Coordinator to perform purchasing activities to bring inventory to established minimum/maximum storage levels
  • Place material orders for all needs for customer programs
  • Assists other purchasing teammates during high volume periods
  • Other related duties, as assigned

  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time 

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business or related field
  • Three to five (3 -5) years of experience in purchasing/buying in a corporate environment with extensive knowledge of purchasing and inventory processes is required
  • Microsoft Office software knowledge required
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting and inventory tracking software preferred
